Angela Davis

Angela, a Craft Yarn Council of America certified hand knitting instructor and popular guest teacher at yarn shops and conferences, has taught knitting on European and Japanese tour buses, and even started a knitting-for-charity club at an inner-city high school in Los Angeles.  She has knitted props for the Mad Men television show, taught at the Sock Summit 09 and is currently preparing a set of patterns for original designs to be available as downloads on Ravelry.com.  The joy of sharing the skill with others inspires Angela to continue learning and teaching.

Don’t dis the dishcloth and fancy facecloths

Dishcloths are quick, fun, easy projects to knit and are enormously practical.  Many knitters and non-knitters alike agree that once you have used hand-knit dishcloths, you will not go back!  Dishcloths are also a great way to practice stitch patterns and lace knitting.  In this class we will experiment with the American institution, Peaches and Crème dishcloth cotton and create a colourful and useful dishcloth sampler.

Face cloths are similar to their cousin the dishcloth in their quick-to-knit, portable-project practicality, but because they are intended for use more delicate than wiping marinara sauce off the counter, they offer the opportunity to explore softer, fluffier stitch patterns with just the right amount to stimulating texture.  In this class we will use the popular Brioche Stitch to create a spa-worthy face cloth that will have all your friends begging you to knit one up for them too.

Intro to the Magic Loop

The Magic Loop refers to the use of one long circular needle with a slightly unusual cast-on method that takes the place of knitting in the round on double pointed needles.  With fewer points, fewer corners to turn, and the ability to toss the lot into you bag and have a truly portable project, many knitters love this method for socks, sleeves, the tops of hats, the fingers of gloves, and any other project that requires knitting in the round.  In this class we will practice the Magic Loop cast-on, and then work on a pair of lovely wrist warmers while getting the hang of Magic Loop knitting!
